Action Item Opportunity: Volunteer at Applefest Lebanon YMCA
If you would like to volunteer at the YMCA's Applefest, you can! You can be in charge of registration before the race, passing out water and food to runners, directing the runners and giving medals as the finish. The volunteers are needed between 7am and 12pm. You may work a portion of that time, I'll just need to know in advance when you're available.
Action Item Description: Video for elementary students
You can record yourself reading a book. The clip will be sent to Mrs. Wright's second grade class to watch. When you create the video include the following: hello, your name, why you love reading, the title and author of the book, read the book & show pictures, talk about the lesson learned in the book....all with enthusiasm and confidence. Make sure the recording has good quality (sound & lighting) since a whole class of students will be watching. Send the link to Mrs. B. to use as your evidence and so she can watch it and send it on to Mrs. Wright.
Action Item Description: Thank a Role Model
To receive credit for this, you will need to show evidence of a 'Thank You' letter to a role model. You must include a genuine explanation of why that person is your role model and what kind of impact they have made in your life. You can snap a picture of it or show it to Mrs. Brittingham before you send it to them. You can write them a letter or send it electronically. Keep in mind that role models can be in the community or a celebrity. Be brave...try to reach out via social media if you are trying to contact someone who you might not be able to find an address for.
Action Item Description: Professional Insight

Action Item Description: Artistic Expression
To receive credit for this item, you will need to create some form of art (music, painting, poem, sketch) that demonstrates your knowledge and passion for one of the topics we have discussed in class. In your submission, you will need to explain the piece in detail. Tell us what you have created, what it means to you and provide insight of your knowledge on the topic.
Action Item Description: Fitness Class
Feel free to venture into the world of fitness! You are encouraged to take a class with a certified instructor, most likely at a gym. Keep proof of the class (ticket, picture, signature from instructor). The requirement to receive credit for this is that it has to be a class with an instructor. It cannot be a video. I want you to gain experience from the personal interaction and guidance from another person. Unfortunately this might be hard to do unless you have a gym membership or pay a fee to take the class. I'm working on getting free classes at the community center....more info will come when I get it! :)
